After rescuing a miserable Enid from a seedy French Circus using her as an attraction, the wolf getting to her feet and stepping towards the familiar scent to the door of the criminally small cage after Fester picked the lock, Enid's coat revealed to be filthy and matted in the light. The wolf tentatively stepped out of the cage with nervous pinned ears, Enid whining quietly as she slowly approached and cautiously sniffed the raven, butt wiggling as she crouched down and pressed her forehead to Wednesday's. "I kept my promise," Wednesday murmured, leaning into the touch and letting the wolf in close against her, raising a hand and lightly threading her fingers through the fur at Enid's jaw. "We should get going before they catch us, kid," Fester urged. "Come on!" The wolf pulled back and slunk low to the ground as she followed behind the Addamses, sneaking out of the dreaded circus and into the streets of Paris. They made it back to their hotel with ease, Fester distracting the staff while Wednesday snuck Enid in, having to take the stairs up to their floor. Once they were safely behind Wednesday's hotel room door, Wednesday watched as the wolf sat on her haunches and stared at her with her soft blue eyes. Collecting a blanket from the closet, Wednesday wrapped it around the wolf's shoulders before she spoke. "From my research, I have found a myth to make a werewolf turn back I will try," stepping right up to the wolf, Enid lowered her head, so her nose was pressed against Wednesday's chest. "Enid Avery Sinclair." Enid blinked at her, whining softly. "Enid Avery Sinclair," she continued, the wolf mildly confused where Wednesday had found her middle name. "Enid Avery Sinclair," she finished, the wolf's body suddenly and violently shaking and popping as Enid shrunk down into her human form, collapsing into Wednesday's steadying arms. "Wednesday?" Enid asked softly, meeting her eyes, her vision rapidly blurring as her eyes filled with tears. "Hello, Enid," she replied, steadying the blonde on her feet. "You should wash up. I will assist if needed." "Y-yeah. Adjusting," she replied, still feeling uncoordinated on two legs again after months of being stuck on four. Wednesday drew Enid a bath, the open plan of the bathroom and the claw foot tub allowing the raven to also wash Enid's hair for her, massaging her scalp and ridding it of the dirt and tangles. "Your hair has grown," Wednesday mused quietly. "It suits you." After a filling meal, the pair retired, Wednesday not commenting when Enid slipped into the bed beside her. And less so when Enid almost immediately flipped Wednesday onto her side and curled herself around her, dressed in Wednesday's spare black pyjamas, pressing herself flush against the raven's back. Wednesday was somewhat frozen in surprise, Enid never having been quite so forceful in her touch before, but settled into her warmth all the same as she felt the wolf behind her slowly settle. She wasn’t used to sleeping on her side after years of only sleeping on her back, but the exhaustion of the day still caught up with her and they both fell asleep. Wednesday was woken in the twilight hours to soft whimpers and growls in her ear, teeth grinding as the body wrapped around her twitched and shook. She blinked away the edges of sleep, unsure what to do to soothe the distressed wolf whose claws were starting to dig into her, eventually resting her hand over one of Enid’s,rubbing the back of it lightly. “Enid?” she called softly, the wolf whimpering and sniffling louder. Concerned, Wednesday carefully rolled herself onto her back, pulling the wolf in against her side so her cheek came to rest in the crook of her shoulder. “You are safe, Enid,” Wednesday murmured, feeling her take a shaky breath before slowly letting it out again, claws retracting as she returned to a calmer sleep. Later that morning, Enid awoke slowly to the familiar sound of a heartbeat beneath her ear. The same heartbeat that she had listened to for longer than she cared to admit back at Nevermore. “Hi, Wednesday,” she murmured, voice croaky with sleep and disuse. “Hello, Enid,” the raven greeted, still holding the blonde in protectively close against her. “Thanks. For last night. Helped with the nightmares,” Enid said softly, shifting her head to nuzzle against Wednesday’s neck with her nose, breathing in her comforting and familiar scent. “It is a sizable adjustment to change from wolf to human after so long. Nightmares are to be expected after what you have experienced,” Wednesday replied evenly, Enid taking in for the first time seeing Wednesday’s sleep mused braids, morning breath that would soon be masked with the dark coffee she would drink, and her cool embrace keeping Enid grounded in the moment. Over breakfast, Wednesday informed Enid of the additional investigation awaiting them, the blonde insisting that she come with the raven, reluctant to leave her side so soon after turning back. Wednesday did not disagree and simply continued explaining that Fester was assisting her with trying to find a way to help her and uncover the mystery that Ophelia had hinted to in her journal, which Wednesday was almost certain was pointing towards the Paris catacombs. Enid was apprehensive about entering them, having heard stories about people getting lost forever in them, but Wednesday insisted that she had done her research and they would be fine. However, getting into them was considerably more difficult than initially anticipated. Wednesday noticed there were guards stationed outside the entrance, ever vigilant to anyone trying to get in. "Wednesday, there's no way we're sneaking in from here," Enid hissed, trying to act casual as they continued to approach. "It will be fine," Wednesday assured her, slipping her hand into Enid’s and threading their fingers together. "What are you doing?" Enid blushed. "Acting. Play along," she encouraged. Enid swallowed and nodded, heart thundering with both nerves from what they were trying to do, and Wednesday holding her hand. They managed to get rather close, closer than Enid initially expected, until one of the guard's heads snapped over to them and watched them critically. Wednesday strategically led Enid off to the side, the guard still suspicious and starting to walk towards them to investigate. Acting without truly thinking it through, Wednesday cupped Enid's jaw and used the advantage of her high heels to draw Enid in for a kiss. The blonde froze against her, pulling back with wide eyes. "Wh-what are you-" "Stop talking," Wednesday hissed, pulling her back in for another firmer kiss. Enid hummed against her mouth, letting go of her hand and wrapping both arms around her as she kissed her back, chasing Wednesday's lips when they separated and drawing her back in for another kiss. Wednesday let herself pour all the pain and fear of never finding Enid again, of not being able to return her to human, and the relief that she'd finally found her into the kiss. Enid kissed her back just as fiercely, a hand slipping up to Wednesday’s jaw to keep her close as their lips continued to move together in what felt like the most natural dance together, despite it being so new. When Wednesday tried to pull back and end the kiss, Enid growled against her mouth and pulled her back in with a light nip to her bottom lip, soothing it gently with her tongue. Wednesday let out a soft stuttered moan, hands diving immediately into Enid’s hair as she kissed her back with renewed passion, forgetting entirely about the initial purpose of the kiss. Just as she was about to open her mouth to Enid, the guards quickly ran off, calling on their radios as they presumably chased after someone. In their surprise, the pair separated and stared after the guards, Wednesday quickly detangling herself from the distracted wolf and running into the catacombs entrance with the blonde hot on her heels. They rushed deeper inside quickly and quietly, hiding around a corner in silence for a while until they were sure no one was following them. "Wednesday?" Enid whispered, swallowing thickly and nervously as she looked at her friend. "What?" "I..." Enid trailed off, chickening out. "That was quick thinking earlier." "Yes. Public displays of affection are often a useful distraction tool. People often avert their gaze out of uncomfortability or social etiquette, making it an advantageous ploy" Wednesday agreed, looking vaguely in Enid’s direction in the pitch black. "Can you see?" "Yeah. Night vision," Enid chuckled. "I cannot and would appreciate assistance. At least until we are further in and can safely use the torches." "Sure. But… I might need a little encouragement," Enid teased, threading her fingers through Wednesday’s, curious if the seer would understand her implications. "Are you requesting... another kiss?" Wednesday swallowed, not expecting them to be revisiting this again so soon. "Maybe," she sing-songed, leaning in and hovering close to her. "Would you be open to it?" "Enid..." "Please?" Enid whispered, leaning in closer, their lips almost touching. Wednesday gave in, leaning in and firmly pressing her lips to Enid’s, the wolf hungrily returning the kiss. But despite the intensity of their previous kiss, this was less hurried, more tender and damn near loving. Enid smiled slightly into the kiss, wrapping her arm around Wednesday while the other cupped her cheek, unwilling to let the raven stray too far. "Enid," Wednesday murmured against the wolf's insistent mouth, the blonde growling softly before lightly licking over Wednesday’s bottom lip, the raven sighing and opening her mouth to her, welcoming her tongue in. Enid was intoxicated, opening wider to Wednesday, tongue possessively claiming hers with a hummed exhale. With a surprising presence of mind, Enid eventually drew back, Wednesday following her briefly before blinking back into reality. "Hmm,” Enid hummed. “I missed you. We are definitely revisiting that later," she smirked, pressing one final lingering kiss to Wednesday’s lips, the seer surprising her as she wrapped her arms around Enid’s neck, fingers threading in her hair as she pulled her back in for just one more kiss. "Indeed," Wednesday hummed against Enid’s soft lips. "But until then, we have an investigation to conduct before the guards find us." When they stumbled back into their shared room, exhausted and covered in mud and sweat, Enid excused herself to take the first shower while Wednesday ordered them some room service for dinner. Once Enid was fresh and clean, she traded off with Wednesday, the raven having already laid out a change of clothes for her. Their food arrived just before Wednesday finished in the bathroom, Enid politely thanking the attendant and waiting for Wednesday to join her. They ate in comfortable silence in the cool evening breeze on the balcony, staring out at the city as the lights slowly flickered on as the sun dipped below the horizon, and the twinkling lights of the Eiffel tower switched on. “Never thought I’d get to see this,” Enid mused. “It’s beautiful.” Wednesday’s eyes flicked over to Enid, taking in her soft, relaxed smile as she enjoyed the view, Wednesday’s stomach flipping as she swallowed quietly and slightly turned her head towards Enid. “Yes,” she murmured. “Breathtaking.”
