I am affected, upgraded from student to pro trial plan, and the issue started around 6 hours ago (could be longer, but that's when I woke up and noticed.) Happening on all my systems across the VSCode extension, web copilot chat and copilot CLI.

I have this issue noticed it as soon as I opened it 5 hours ago. I'm on pro trial

I'm having trouble with 2 accounts, I created this one to test it and it's having problems too.

I'm affected and using the pro trial plan and the issue just started today. I still can't use any premium models.

This is NOT just VS Code.
It is happening in Visual Studio IDE 2026 also.
It's happening on both Pro paid and Pro trial.

same here, i changed to pro but sonnet still not appear

Today (2026-03-16), both Claude Sonnet 4.6 and Claude Opus 4.6 have disappeared from the model selector in Copilot Chat. These models were available and functioning correctly yesterday.

Previously, I used the Claude Opus 4.6 in VS Code, but on March 13th I observed that this agent, together with Claude Sonnet 4.6 and GPT-5.4 became unavailable and VS Code suggested me to contact my admin. Today, I checked the Visual Studio 2022, and It doesn't have an option for any models from Claude besides Haiku.

I'm affected as well.
I upgraded from Copilot Student to Copilot Pro, currently on a free trial.
I only had access to those models for a day, but for the past 2 days, the model picker hasn't shown the premium models.

I'm affected. I was on the student plan for the past two years, but I was re-verified as faculty approximately a month ago, so I think I should not be considered as student anymore, but my copilot plan is still showing as Copilot Student.

My copilot is also affected since yesterday i think. i used the models by claude for a few minutes when i first signedup to pro but then in the middle of my workflow they just disappeared along with gemini 3.1 pro and gpt5.4

As some other people upgraded from Student to Pro trial and the premium models disappeared, all of them (no GPT 5.3codex/5.4, no anthropic, no Gemini).
Had to click on Start paid plan to fix it, there must be some way to reverse, not to mention that there were no “are you sure you want to start the paid plan?” (I know by design they may not want it)

Both copilot and chat gpt, a complete switch. They went from actually useful tools to absolute trash if this continues these are no better than a chat bot and I will be canceling my subscriptions.

I had occasional "contact your admin" for Antropic Opus 4.6 and Sonnet 4.6, but the by far most often issues is with GPT 5.4.
