Kinegram Barrier-grid animation (commonly known as scanimation) is a visual technique in which multiple frames of an image are interlaced into stripes and combined with a transparent sheet printed with black lines. When the sheet is slid across the image, the lines alternately hide and reveal different parts, creating the illusion of continuous motion without any digital playback. Although its origins trace back to 19th-century optical experiments, the effect remains widely used today.

I’m Going to Sleep (unofficial translation)

Teeth of flowers, a cap of dew, hands of herbs—you, gentle nurse— prepare for me the earthen sheets and the quilt of tended moss.

I am going to sleep—lay me down. Set a lamp beside my bed; a constellation, any one you like— all are good—lower it a little.

Leave me alone: do you hear the buds breaking? a celestial foot rocks you from above and a bird traces out a few measures

so you may forget… Thank you. Ah, one request: if he calls again, tell him not to insist—that I’ve gone out… Alfonsina Storni was an Argentine writer and poet who died in 1938, after enduring illness and profound emotional strain; she left as her farewell the poem “I’m Going to Sleep”, before walking into the sea in Mar del Plata.
