Hey there! I wanted to suggest a NSFW Schedule function alongside the current Mature Content toggles. Ideally, we'd be able to select times when such content could be blurred (say working hours) and then content would be unblurred outside of that. Is this something that could be developed? Thanks!

Avatar

Answer: Hey there, @thetrekkiehasthephonebox!

A scheduling feature for NSFW content is a creative idea, and it's great to hear how you would like to personalize your experiences.

Right now, we’re focused on making the Mature Content toggles as simple and effective as possible for the majority of the community. While a scheduling option could be useful for some, we’ve found that most folks prefer more straightforward controls. This helps experience remain intuitive and easy to manage.

That said, we always want to hear your feedback. If we see more interest in scheduled controls in the future, we’ll definitely consider it. So please keep sharing your thoughts—they help us shape the best possible experience for everyone.

Keep the questions coming, folks.

hi! not sure if you've ever gotten asked this, but in fandom sections of tumblr there's a term called "spam likes" where a single person goes through all your post history and enthusiastically likes Every Individual Post You've Made. because of the way notifications are grouped up, a hundred likes from different people on the same post might get lumped into one notification, which is beautiful and simple and easy to read, but, if one singular person likes a LOT of your posts, it can blow up your whole activity feed, since each will register as an individual notification—a lot of times, people who like posts like this will get blocked for being "annoying" and making it so that the blog owner can't see their friends interacting in their feed. as somebody mildly annoyed when this happens to my blog, but who doesn't block people for doing that, i want to know: could it ever be possible to create a notification for, say, a single individual liking more than 10 of your posts in, idk, a day or something? i think it would both clean up the activity feed for a lot of people, and would give a new funny metric for something like. idk, "@yourbestestfriend liked 437 of your posts" i think notifs like that would be funny instead of frustrating.

Answer: Hello, @friend-dogor!

Thanks for your question. We love this idea! It’s a great suggestion, so we will look into it and see what’s possible. It could make a good candidate for the next Hack Day—we’ll keep you posted.

If we have updates, you’ll find them here at @wip or at @changes. Stayed tuned, and keep your suggestions coming.

I’d love to be able to send out a daily newsletter of my tumblr posts, for the benefit of friends who won’t use tumblr. Nothing fancy — no metrics, no segmentation, no pro features. Just a simple mailing list, distributed daily. It would be fine if the newsletter looked like the default tumblr design. As of now, I'm accomplishing this by piping my RSS feed through the MailChimp free tier, which works but is not great because Tumbr's RSS feeds are janky.

Answer: Hi there @mitchipedia!

There are a lot of great ways to share Tumblr off of Tumblr! While email isn’t in the works right now, it’s a good idea, and it’s certainly something we’ve made note of—perhaps we could look into this in the future.

For now, we enthusiastically encourage the sharing of Tumblr content on platforms such as Facebook, Reddit, Threads, Pinterest, Mastodon, and Bluesky. You can share Tumblr posts via email, too, and find out more about sharing and embedding Tumblr content over at the Help Center.

Thanks for your question. Keep your feedback coming, folks.

Please consider adding the ability to edit comments (replies) on Tumblr posts — even if only for a short period after posting (like 5–10 minutes). It would help users fix typos or clarify thoughts without having to delete and repost the entire comment.

Answer: Hey there @amtva!

Thanks for your question. It’s a good idea, and it’s certainly possible!

Such a feature would certainly require a bit of love, time, and effort, but it’s doable—and we would love to see it happen as well. It would make a useful enhancement to replies. Limiting time would make sense, as you suggest—many similar apps only permit such a feature for a short time.

Leave this with us, for now. We will definitely take a look into it—it might make for an ideal Hack Day project! Keep an eye here at @wip and @changes for updates.

Have a great day!

Can you add Apple Music support for posting tracks and albums

Avatar

Answer: Hey, @pinkcat13!

Thanks for your question! We received something similar from @australmixing recently, who asked:

Hi, would you finally support MIXCLOUD player to be embed? why Soundcloud is supported and not Mixcloud?, they are practically “the same”.

Both of these sure would be nice, but they are not a priority right now, unfortunately. But we thought we would put it to you in a poll:

Would love to see basic formatting in replies and messages — plain text in 2025 just doesn’t cut it anymore.

Avatar

Answer: Hello @amtva!

A little good news for you. We want to do it, and we are currently working on replies. We've got quite the to-do list right now, so there is no concrete timeline as yet—but it’s recognized among the team that replies can be improved, and we plan on getting to it soon.

Watch this space! You’ll get updates here at @wip or @changes. Thanks for your question, and keep them coming.

hi wip! I was wondering if there's some kind of limit on the amount of links that can be included in a single post? I've been trying to create a directory pinned post on a sideblog of mine with probably around 50 links to different tags on the blog & keep getting the incredibly vague "there was an error saving your post" message when editing.

Avatar

Answer: Hello, @sydmarch!

We can confirm that the limit is 100, but we should add that mentions are also classified as links, and a lot of folks run into that number! So it’s really 100 links and/or mentions, in total.

For anyone close to the limit, we would recommend categorization. You could make a primary list per category, for example, and then make the primary list link to each category. Or, in your specific case, perhaps you could create a custom page instead of a pinned post—that might work better.

We hope that’s some help. Thanks for your question, and keep them coming!

Any chance the Queue button will come back on mobile (iOS)? I try to be respectful of my mutuals’ dashes and like to pace my posts. And it’s such a drag to have to open every. single. post. to queue. :/

Thanks!

Answer: Hey there, @bloggingakymbo.

Good news! We hear you, and we will bring it back. We can’t say for sure when exactly this will be, but we hope it won’t be too long.

Stay tuned for any news here at @wip or at @changes. Thanks for your question, and have a great day!

Tips to build an audience.

Hey folks. We recently received this submitted as feedback:

It is extremely hard to get any sort of attention to your posts/ page I don’t know if I’m not putting enough tags or what but it just turned me off the the app because it felt pointless. I want people to see my art, to make friends, and to see something besides the same 5 post over and over again.

This felt like a good chance to start a conversation with you all. How do you build your audiences? What are your tips for tagging, blog settings, themes, and paid options? How do you get attention to your posts and pages? How do you get people to see your content, make friends, and see more posts?

But first, we can say that building an audience can be challenging—it’s also a lot of fun, and very rewarding! Using tags, for example, can help reach users who might be interested in your art (if any of your posts has content that is not suitable for minors, please remember to apply Content Labels to your posts). Why not check these pointers below from our old tips blog? But please consider that some features mentioned in that blog are no longer available:

In addition, you can Blaze your posts to promote your content even further and help you build an audience.

There's a poll coming. Stay tuned, and keep submitting your feedback!

Hey it would be very cool if we could turn off colored text and custom blog backgrounds because some of them are genuinely impossible for me to read

Avatar

Answer: Hi, @antiadvil!

Good news. You can turn these off! You can do so in your dashboard settings. You can enable a blog’s custom colors in the blog view (e.g. http://www.tumblr.com/staff) but, if disabled, all blogs will be shown using your selected palette’s colors instead.

Thanks for your question. Keep them coming!

When do monthly premium perks (Blaze, TumblrMart item) reset? I often forget to use them until the last day of the month, but there have been multiple months now where I go to use them that last day, only to find it’s reset for the next month (showing “30 days left” to use or whatever).

Of note, this has happened every time before it’s midnight anywhere on the continental US.

Avatar

Answer: Hey there @okayto!

This might be a time zone issue. Tumblr Premium monthly perks reset at midnight, UTC. You can read all about it right here.

But we are taking a look into this in case something happened that shouldn’t have. Stay tuned! Thanks for your question, and you’ll get updates here or at @changes.

Will formatting for code snippets or code blocks ever be a thing? I would love to make posts about various themes and coding stuff and the ability to insert code snippets would help a lot.

Avatar

Answer: Hi @inkloin!

A few of you have asked this, or something similar! Unfortunately, this would be pretty difficult to implement right now. That said, we would love this—it would be nice to have. So we would love to know what other posts blocks you all would find helpful? Let us know in the comments and reblogs, and you'll get any updates here or at @changes.

Thank you for your question, and please keep them coming.
