The Germans really cooked making "Hobbyless behaviour" an insult. It is both devastating, applicable to a wide range of people and behaviours, and doesn't resort to swearing.

Man ranting on the internet about the Superbowl halftime show or complaining that something is "woke"? Hobbyless Behaviour. Girls mocking another girl for not looking right? Hobbyless Behaviour. Mindless vandalism? Hobbyless Behaviour.

It is more powerful than "get a life" or the English "You're Sad" because it gets to the central point of the matter, and that is wonderful. Danke, Deutsch.

You know when you're checking out a new fandom and you stumble across a writer/artist you loved in a previous fandom and it feels like running into a childhood friend at a bar

I can't stop giggling at Zemnian/German in the mighty nein animated

Some of the lines and reads are genuinely great (Mark Strong in particular is amazing) but then out of the blue we get something like "tolle Karre!"

Which while technically correct is like saying "sick ride!" at Icky Thong's fancy carriage

Mein Problem mit dem Stadtbild in Deutschland ist ja, dass hier wieder zu viele Nazis ohne Angst eins auf die Fresse zu kriegen rumlaufen.

doomed by the narrative but not to death. doomed to survive. doomed to stay alive inside the story. doomed to never escape the narrative, not even through death. you are allowed no exit. there is no way out for you and there never was. you couldn’t die if you wanted to. the narrative has a hold on you and it won’t let go. death is too sweet a doom for you. the story has something much worse in mind. there is no way out.

languages that don't distinguish between formal and informal you are missing out on so much petty drama. my grandparents have two neighbours who once got into a huge fight over something honestly pretty trivial, so neighbour A said he was going to revoke neighbour B's du (informal you) privileges. neighbour B was like "okay but can i use du one last time?" and neighbour A was like "yeah go ahead", and neighbour B said "du arschloch" (you asshole). incredible.

dislike how many mental health posts on here are just "you've never done anything wrong in your life ever and they were evil for that"

maybe you did do something wrong. maybe you hurt someone. maybe you have said awful things. maybe you were just as bad as them. maybe. but what matters is that you move on. you have to try. you have to wake up and be kinder. you have to learn and listen and grow. maybe you did do something wrong but that doesn't mean you have to keep doing that. as long as you are alive, you can change

A conversation at Raborsch

Whew this took a while- but here it is. My little comic about a conversation I wished for Sam and John to have during the feast at Raborsch. As I eluded to in my previous preview-post, this idea came to me after seeing this post (sorry for linking it again, but I feel this is important)- and seeing just how pissed John actually is after Jobst's initial proposal. (yadda yadda you've probably read all this in my previous post before) Also Samuel learns from Godwin about his fathers passing, and- man- on top of all the stress that he finds himself in already, that must be really rough. So I wanted both of these guys to talk it out a little bit. Oh also- this comic isn't particularly romantic in nature, but please feel free to read that into it if you like. (I sure do) Forgive me if you spot any spelling errors or other mistakes along the way- I have done nothing but breathe this comic for the last few weeks and have probably gone blind to some mistakes. :')

Okay so uhm, on a personal note- I really wanted to do this little project to prove to myself that I can actually finish something that I started (I'm sure some of you can relate) - and it worked so- yay! I also learned a lot about writing and drawing comics along the way. Though there are still things I'm not super happy with- like worrying that the scene is super boring actually (I mean they're just talking and that's hardly exciting :'D), the characters possibly being ooc, or that some panels don't look the way I wanted them to- and so on and so forth. I am even anxious about posting the comic while typing this out. ALSO ALSO I feel a bit disingenuous tagging this comic as "Jamuel" since this really is not super shippy- soooo I may or may not have already made a little sketchy bonus thingy that goes more in that direction. I'll probably post it tomorrow. Or this evening, if I'm impatient. UNTIL THEN- feast your eyes on this BEAUTIFUL, IMMACULATE edit by my friend:

(srsly though, without him and his support, I probably wouldn't have finished this little project- so thank youuu!!!) Also again thanks to @telafel and @lordgeneralsix (I hope it's ok that I tag you again) for the references on their blogs- they were sooo vital. <333

The German language has such a inherent negativity/ aversion to positivity that drains the life out of me.

Its so much more common to go "this thing isn't bad" or "this thing doesn't suck" than it is to go "hey this is good". And it makes everything feel so useless
