I've been seeing this clip of silver springs from 1997 a lot on my tl, and just a bg on me, I know nothing about that band or whatever drama there was lol but based on the comments of this performance, everyone seems to know based on how stevie nicks looks at lindsey (? Is that the name of the dude) that they had something going on. Now I have no idea if they ever confirmed their relationship but people seem to be catching the vibe pretty quickly, and I mean it's fairly clear that stevie nicks is glaring daggers at him throughout this performance and basically trying to curse him through her singing lollll
Anyway, I couldn't help but contrast this with some instances of similar (ish) moments with one direction where harry would just stare with all the love in his heart at louis and serenade him so so many times throughout the history of one direction and vice versa....and when larries point out the obvious that they are probably together, we are called all the names under the sun. It makes me wonder, would people's reaction be the same, if this wasn't two boys we were speaking of..but two people of opposite genders instead. The double standard of it all feels so apparent when I compare with people's reaction to the silver springs clip. Larry would be so obvious if it was a het couple. They probably would have had a much easier time of it. And it's all so sad and makes me so angry

Oh, 100%. I’ve said it a thousand times: If Harry and Louis were a heterosexual couple, there’s no way we’d be having these stupid conversations about whether their relationship was real, if they’re still together, what all the secret touches and longing looks meant, whether all their songs were about each other… none of it.
Even just the fact that Rob Sheffield compared their performing styles to Stevie and Lindsay, sent the fandom into hysterics.
The lore behind Fleetwood Mac, the making of their album Rumors, and the love/hate relationship between Stevie and Lindsay that’s spanned decades, is the stuff of legends. It’s definitely worth checking out.
