As a senior citizen, you can travel by train at a reduced rate. Whether you want to get some fresh air at the seaside, visit family or friends at the last minute, or enjoy a weekend away, traveling by train is quick and inexpensive.

Buy Train+ and travel even cheaper:

  • Pay a maximum of € 5.50 per journey (2nd class) regardless of the time and number of kilometers
  • 40% extra discount (on top of your already reduced fare) during off-peak hours (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.), Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.
  • Only € 4/month, or € 32/year.

  • Off-peak hours: boarding Monday to Friday from midnight to 6 a.m., from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and from 6 p.m. to midnight
  • Peak hours: boarding departing Monday to Friday from 6.01am to 8.59am, and from 4.01pm to 5.59pm.
  • Weekends (Saturday and Sunday): all-day boarding.
  • Public holidays: all-day boarding.

If your journey is constituted of several connecting trains, it is the first leg of your journey that determines whether the “Off-peak” or “Anytime” fare applies.

The minimum price for a journey is €2.6 (rounded), both for a journey without and with Train+. The maximum price of a ticket is determined based on the number of kilometers. However, if you have Train+, you always pay a maximum price of just €5.50 per journey.
The current Senior Ticket is a fixed-rate product that is also subject to conditions (return journey – not before 9 a.m. on weekdays). Many seniors therefore opt for other products. With the basic 40% discount for seniors (any time, any route), these conditions no longer apply. With Train+, additional discounts are available during off-peak hours and at weekends, and a maximum price (also during peak hours) is offered for long distances.

The minimum price for a train journey is €2.6 (rounded) in second class, whether you have Train+ or not.
The benefits and discounts linked to Train+ may evolve throughout the validity of your Train+. The conditions applicable are those in effect at the time of travel.
