If you need a connection during your travel, we plan a minimum transfer time of 8 or 15 minutes depending on the assistance you need.

  • 15 minutes: you need assistance to move around the station and board the train
  • 8 minutes: you don't need any assistance to move around the station and get on the train

Depending on the situation, we can propose you a different connection time.

Plan your journey well. We advise you to request a longer connection time, if you consider it necessary. You can define this connection time in the booking application, on the website or request it when you make your reservation by phone.

  • If you are blind or partially sighted, you can take the train for free in 2nd class. To do this, you must be in possession of a National Public Transport Discount Card.
  • With the Free Carer Card, your carer travels free of charge.
  • If you have a Preferential Reimbursement Discount Card, you can buy a Preferential Reimbursement Discount Ticket with 40% discount.
  • Since September 2025, it is no longer necessary to purchase a “priority seat” ticket from NMBS-SNCB to enjoy a reserved seat. Do you have difficulty standing for long periods or are you less mobile? Then all you need is a certificate from your GP to use a priority seat.
Assistance is available free of charge for any type of vehicle intended for the mobility of a passenger with reduced mobility. If you are not a passenger with reduced mobility, SNCB-NMBS cannot meet your request for assistance.

For safety reasons, the total weight and dimensions of the wheelchair and/or vehicle must not exceed: 300 kg, 75 cm wide and 120 cm long.
If you, as a traveller with reduced mobility, have requested assistance for a journey in Belgium or for a trip abroad, the staff member responsible can help you carry one trolley (on wheels and fitted with an extendable handle). Your luggage may not weigh more than 16 kilos.

You may take more than one piece of baggage with you, but the staff member responsible will not carry it for you.

SNCB-NMBS does not have a baggage delivery service. However, Wibag does offer a paid baggage service at Brussels-Midi station.
Guide dogs and assistance dogs travel with you free of charge and do not require a Pet Supplement. When there is ticket control on board the train, you must show the personal access card of a recognised assistance dog training centre. This card must be validated each year by this centre.

Guide dogs and assistance dogs don’t have to wear a muzzle.
Of course you can. You can take your wheelchair on board of the train for free, regardless of whether or not you use the SNCB's free assistance service.
