Tumblr has evolved a lot over the years, but some things never change. It remains a home for fandom, culture, and self-expression, where originality is celebrated and creativity doesn’t follow a formula. And we’ve maintained our commitment to user safety and being a responsible actor in any place our users may be. Sometimes that means updating our practices to keep up with the changing internet.
Starting today, to comply with local laws, some users in Australia will need to verify their age to keep using their account (including all new users). If we need you to verify your age, you’ll be prompted to provide additional information to help us confirm you meet the age requirement. If you’re not meeting the criteria yet, don’t worry, Tumblr will still be there for you, and we can’t wait to have you join us on the platform.
We are working with a reputable partner to provide you with multiple verification methods. You may already be familiar with some of these methods: ConnectID, Photo ID, AgeKey, or using a selfie. You can read more here.
IMPORTANT: We value your privacy. The information you provide is processed for verification purposes only. No sensitive media will be retained by anyone, and only the final verification result will be stored and linked to your account. Tumblr won’t even have access to the information you submit, as we receive only the final age-verification result.
