pinkcat13 asked:

Can you add Apple Music support for posting tracks and albums

wip answered:

Answer: Hey, @pinkcat13!

Thanks for your question! We received something similar from @australmixing recently, who asked:

Hi, would you finally support MIXCLOUD player to be embed? why Soundcloud is supported and not Mixcloud?, they are practically “the same”.

Both of these sure would be nice, but they are not a priority right now, unfortunately. But we thought we would put it to you in a poll:

What music streaming service would you like to see on Tumblr?

Apple Music

Mixcloud

Amazon Music

TIDAL

Deezer

SiriusXM

Tips to build an audience.

Hey folks. We recently received this submitted as feedback:

It is extremely hard to get any sort of attention to your posts/ page I don’t know if I’m not putting enough tags or what but it just turned me off the the app because it felt pointless. I want people to see my art, to make friends, and to see something besides the same 5 post over and over again.

This felt like a good chance to start a conversation with you all. How do you build your audiences? What are your tips for tagging, blog settings, themes, and paid options? How do you get attention to your posts and pages? How do you get people to see your content, make friends, and see more posts?

But first, we can say that building an audience can be challenging—it’s also a lot of fun, and very rewarding! Using tags, for example, can help reach users who might be interested in your art (if any of your posts has content that is not suitable for minors, please remember to apply Content Labels to your posts). Why not check these pointers below from our old tips blog? But please consider that some features mentioned in that blog are no longer available:

In addition, you can Blaze your posts to promote your content even further and help you build an audience.

There's a poll coming. Stay tuned, and keep submitting your feedback!

littlemetalbiter asked:

Is there any possibility for being able to add videos in reblogs as well as original posts?

Answer: Hey, @littlemetalbiter!

Good question, and timely: this could certainly be fun, and video is something we are taking another look at right now. But while this is an idea that we’re interested in, we haven’t put it on the roadmap yet—we’re focusing on the fundamentals of video on Tumblr first, and this idea is not something we can talk about with any certainty.

You’ll get news and updates over at @changes as and when we’ve got ’em. Keep the questions coming!

deadgodjess asked:

Hi! Will we get the ability to pick & choose who can & and can not reblog betond the "anyone" & "noone" options? I'm thinking along the lines of how we can decide that only people who have followed us for at least 2 weeks can reply to our posts. If it's possible, it would be cool to have a "Only me," "Only Mutuals" and "Only ppl who've been following me for at least 2 weeks" options.

Answer: Hello there, @deadgodjess!

You have a point here—it is wildly inconsistent. Between replies, mentions, and reblogs, all three options have different options.

Ideally, it would be great if the same options were available for all three, that they were ordered and worded the same, and were consistently presented. For example:

  • Everyone can [reply][mention][reblog].
  • Only those you follow can [reply][mention][reblog].
  • Only mutuals following you for a week can [reply][mention][reblog].
  • Only mutuals can [reply][mention][reblog].
  • No one can [reply][mention][reblog].

It’s not sure where this falls on our priority list as things stand, given it is not without its complications, but leave this with us. If there are any updates, you will be the first to know. Thanks for your question!

1randomperson15 asked:

I'd love to see a feature that allows us to make a reblog act as an original post in notifications. Like if I were to reblog a post and add writing or art I'd like to be able to see more than just the direct interactions with my post. (As in, if some reblogs it, I'd like to see the interactions with that reblog too)

I know you can have notifications for a post that isn't yours, but that's for the original post as a whole

Answer: Hey, @1randomperson15!

We *think* we have good news for you, here.

If you’re asking what we believe you are asking, then there is good news. The Bell icon on the top right inside the notes view accomplishes what you want. As you can see in this handy little screenshot:

If, however, this wasn’t quite what you were asking, please do get in touch again at @wip and we will see what we can do. Thanks for your question, and we hope this helps.

Keep the questions coming, folks!

alessandriana asked:

I've set up a community and it has a few members, but the engagement is low. I think part of this is that there's no ability to reblog external posts into the community. Any chance that's on the table?

Answer: Hi, @alessandriana!

Good news for you, here. Not only is it on the table, it’s already launched in the latest version of the Android app if you have it! It’s also coming soon to the iOS app, too. We agree—it’s extremely important. So we hope this comes as welcome news.

Thanks for your question, and keep ’em coming.

feature communities reblog tumblr roadmap

iliusolympios asked:

When it comes to private communities and inviting blogs to join, what's the reason for the "Can't invite the blog yet, sorry" message, and is there a way around that at this time?

Also, with private communities, I would like to suggest that there should be a tiny preview available to non-members, with at least the title, cover image, and the "about this community" section with a "request to join" button, as invitations are also getting lost in peoples' notifications.

Answer: Hey, @iliusolympios!

A two-part question requires a two-part answer. To address your first point, we can say that not all blogs can join communities yet. But we are currently working on that—and hope to have more news for you soon, on that point.

Regarding private communities, that’s good feedback, and we are grateful you raised it. Maybe we can make it a toggle whether or not private communities have some kind of “preview” or not—in any case, leave this with us, and we will see what we can do.

Thanks for your feedback. We appreciate it and hope to get back to you with updates soon!

jejciu asked:

If likes/reblogs of the same post by different people get clumped together in the notes, then why not several likes/reblogs of different posts done by one person, too? There's a lot of people who come in and leave dozens of notes in a row, and clumping them together would make notifications tab much clearer and pleasant to read for many of us! Hope you get what I'm trying to say here. Thanks in advance, can't wait for the polls 👍

Answer: Hello, @jejciu!

now that is an interesting idea 🤔 so, to tantalize our imaginations further, the end result could be something like:

  1. notification row here that says “[blog name] and 10 others liked your post” (which is one of our normal “grouped” notifications)
  2. notification row here that says “[blog name] and 5 others followed you” (which is another one of our normal “grouped” notifications)
  3. notification row here that says “[blog name] liked 3 of your posts” (which would be the new one you’re suggesting here)

i guess for that new one, i’d wonder how often that happens: one person likes/reblogs many of a single blog’s posts. it could be something we could query and literally find out about. before we get ahead of ourselves, there are a couple of problems:

  • if you wanted to know what posts they liked or reblogged, how would you find out?
  • this would only work for reblogs without comment, since we want to show their comment in the activity view…

so it seems like a lot of work for an edge case, to me. but it’s definitely a neat idea, and hopefully we’ll do it someday!

Love,

—Cyle

vidoxi asked:

is it a bug or the intended function that the green reblog button only stays green for a short time? I would love if it stayed green permanently.

Answer: Hello, @vidoxi!

This is very much intended. We don’t keep track of what you’ve reblogged beyond your session, so eventually it’ll go away—unlike Likes, which work a little differently.

As luck would have it, I actually answered a question recently about this…
