amtva asked:

Would love to see basic formatting in replies and messages — plain text in 2025 just doesn’t cut it anymore.

Answer: Hello @amtva!

A little good news for you. We want to do it, and we are currently working on replies. We’ve got quite the to-do list right now, so there is no concrete timeline as yet—but it’s recognized among the team that replies can be improved, and we plan on getting to it soon.

Watch this space! You’ll get updates here at @wip or @changes. Thanks for your question, and keep them coming.

ecstaticallyelectrifying asked:

hi! I like threadable replies, but I've noticed that mention notifications are a little different since threadable replies were implemented (I think.) If I'm remembering correctly, we used to be able to click the notification of a mention in a reply on a post & we'd be taken to the reply that mentions us. Now, we click the notif & are just taken to the post itself. This is fine if the post only has a few notes, we can scroll through and find the mention in the replies, but if it's a post with a lot of notes it can be almost impossible to actually find the reply that mentions us. I've had multiple instances where I've been notified someone mentioned me in a reply and clicked on the notif only to give up and not be able to read what they actually said to me because there's hundreds of replies and I'm taken to the post itself instead of the reply I was notified about. I'd love if this could be changed so we could get taken to the actual reply when we click on the notification.

Answer: Hey there, @ecstaticallyelectrifying!

We believe what has happened here is that before there were threads, if you sorted replies from the newest, received a notification, and soon opened the post, the last reply would be at the top.

We agree that it has become harder trying to find the comment that notified you. This is because there is currently no available option to change the sort inside the threads—and because someone might be replying to an old reply (therefore not at the top).

The great news is that we have plans to improve this soon. Watch this space! You’ll get updates over at @changes, and hopefully, it won’t be too long until you hear more on this.

Thanks for your question!

You can also copy the link to a specific reply from its overflow menu.

We’re rolling this out across web, iOS, and Android. Let us know what you think.

misfits-den asked:

Hello, when looking at notes on post, the Replies can be sorted oldest/newest, is it possible to do the same with Reblogs?

Answer: Hello, @misfits-den!

What we can say is that we do have plans to look into the reblog tab and the way users browse it. But unfortunately we are not planning to add sorting options on reblogs—and this is unlikely to change, too.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to send your feedback. You can get regular updates for new features, changes, and bugs we’ve resolved over at @changes.

baander asked:

when I reply on a post and then someone replies to my reply and I am notified of it- I would love it if clicking that notif to see the reply would take me to it rather than just to the post where I have to wade through maybe dozens to hundreds of others to find out what someone said to me

Answer: Hey, @b-a-n-d-e-r!

We would love this, too. Only this is something that would be very hard to do right now with the way that notes and replies are stored. As things stand, it’s hard to say where this may or may not figure in our plans, but rest assured, the will is there!

Thanks a lot for taking the time to send your feedback. It’s appreciated, and we have made note of this for future reference.

And we will remind you, as always, that you can catch regular updates for new features, changes, and bugs we’ve resolved over at @changes.

So we’re sorry to say that this is not currently planned, although it’s true that there are some other reply enhancements that we hope to implement in the future. Watch this space!

miyamiwu asked:

Can we please have emoji reactions for replies? Sometimes i don't really have anything to say to a mutual's comment, but I still want to acknowledge that I've read what they've written

Answer: Hello there @lizzieonka!

Man, o, man. We would absolutely, completely, utterly, dizzyingly love this 😭 into a million smol pieces!! However, right now, we’re afraid we don’t have the bandwidth. But we will keep this in mind, and if anything were to change here, as we so hope, you’ll be the first to know.

azealot asked:

Can we get the reply button on user websites? For example, the reply button appears on www․tumblr․com/blog/azealot, but not azealot․tumblr․com.

Hello there, @azealot.

Unfortunately, we currently do not support replying from a blog’s site (e.g. azealot․tumblr․com). Although we like this idea a lot, we are currently unable to implement it due to technical restraints.

While there are no plans to change this, keep an eye on @changes for all the latest updates.

regicide1997 asked:

Apologies, but this (mostly) unrelated to my previous ask.

The new notes view does not allow users to report replies. Clicking or tapping either the url or the icon takes the user directly to that person's blog, which, yes, the user can use the Report button on the blog page itself, but if the offending content is not on the blog page, then I assume that makes it harder on you (Tumblr staff) to find the offending content. For example, I just reported two spam bots that were trying to sell cryptocurrency in the notes of of that catasters post I used in my previous ask:

But if you go to either of those bots' blogs, you'll see that they're empty. I did the best I could, reporting them for spam using the buttons on their blog pages.

Additionally, this is an issue that popped up for me about half a year ago, and I don't know if it's still a problem, but when reporting a blog for anything other than spam or sensitive content, the report form requires a specific post, with a properly formatted web address—which can be an issue if the blog in question uses a custom domain name. This is such a rare thing that I haven't been able to check lately if that issue persists, but if it does it is very much a problem.

Hi @regicide1997,

Thank you for submitting this question. This gives us the perfect opportunity to let you know that you can report users from the replies.

There are two ways you can do so—one of which you already mentioned.

The most immediate way to report a reply is to long-press on the reply to bring up the menu. There, you have the option to report replies or block the user. The second way (as you have highlighted) is to go to the user’s blog profile in question and tap on the snowman to report.

To answer your second question about the report form, we have changed what the forms accept to make it easier for users to report content. We now allow permalinks, media links, and blog URLs (both custom and tumblr.com domains) in the forms. This Help Center article details how to report a post or an entire blog. If you are still having trouble, please reach out to our Support team.

We hope this helps!
